STUDIO JAY is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary studio founded by British artist Emma Jay. It spans her practices in art, sculpture, furniture, and interiors. Drawing influences from architecture, traditional craft and the natural world, her work is resolutely beholden to ecological sustainability.

Emma’s furniture pieces reside somewhere between functional objects and sculptures, and are made by hand in Los Angeles by master craftspeople utilizing premium local, sustainable and recycled materials. They are created to exist as both artwork and object.

Her abstract textile works are conceived as paintings and explore the notion of “unseen women’s work”: historical crafts that are highly skillful and painstakingly taught and learned, but nonetheless traditionally dismissed as lower forms of art, such as weaving, appliqué and patchwork using vintage cloth.

Her commissioned pieces are owned by collectors in London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles and Paris.
